Food Charter

On March 4, 2013, Healthy Community Partnership and EcoPerth held a joint information session on Food Charter at the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit, Smiths Falls Office. Invitation was sent out to community partners via email in February 2013. The goal of this information session was to assess if there is community interest for a Food Charter for Leeds, Grenville & Lanark. About 50 people attended this event including representation from various sectors:

Information on Food Charter was presented via a Power Point Presentation. The presentation was followed by a group discussion. Participants were also asked to fill out an individual reflection sheet.

We are working on compiling the feedback and comments we received from our participants and will use this information to shape how we proceed. Community Profile

A Community Profile was compiled to provide stakeholders with a picture of what is happening locally in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville. The report is by no means exhaustive, and will be added to as more data becomes available. Click on the following link to view or download the Community Profile.

Community Picture

The Healthy Communities Partnership: Lanark, Leeds and Grenville has engaged stakeholders, gathered data, conducted community consultations, including focus groups with residents and organizations and identified key findings from this assessment. Two recommended actions for each of the six priority areas of: physical activity, sport and recreation, mental health promotion, healthy eating, injury prevention, substance and alcohol misuse prevention and tobacco use/exposure prevention have been identified.

The Healthy Communities Partnership: Lanark, Leeds and Grenville has chosen a constellation model as a framework for governance.

Healthy Communities Consortium Resources

The Healthy Communities Consortium supports community groups, organizations and partnerships who are working toward building Healthy Communities throughout Ontario.

The Consortium is a group of four health promotion organizations that collaboratively support community organizations and partnerships in Ontario to build healthy communities. Members of the Consortium are Health Nexus, Parent Action on Drugs (PAD), Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition (OHCC), and the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA).

We offer services in both official languages, such as consultation, training, networking opportunities and educational resources. Our services are available to:

The Healthy Communities Consortium is funded by the Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport as part of the Healthy Communities Framework.
